Troubled SBI agent returns to work

RALEIGH Duane Deaver, who had been placed on a 60-day leave while claims of faulty testing practices were investigated, is now on administrative duty, according to SBI Director Greg McLeod.

"Under state personnel rules, employees can be placed on investigatory placement for only a limited period of time, said McLeod. "He is on administrative duty as the SBI internal investigation continues."

Officials also say additional information has come to light about the blood testing controversy, but would not comment on the nature of the information.

Deaver returned to work on October 28.
