NC State hikes tuition

RALEIGH

The increase would add a little more than 6 percent to the current in-state undergraduate tuition of $4,853.

Graduate students and out-of-state undergraduates face a bigger hike of $600.

NC State is just the latest school to raise tuition as they struggle to make ends meet with looming state funding cuts.

The UNC Chapel Hill Board of Trustees approved a 6.5 percent tuition hike Thursday to dampen expected reductions by the Legislature.

The school says it has to cut $54 million out of its budget.

NC State says it's been warned it could see its state funding cut by as much as 10 percent.
