Traffic was already backed up in this area because construction had two lanes closed.
Troopers say that Daniel Molina was a suspect in a hit and run accident that happened near the construction zone on Airport Boulevard. Molina was attempting to flee the accident scene when he was hit and killed by another car.
The Highway Patrol says Molina was trying to cross into the eastbound lanes of the interstate and was struck by an out of state driver.
No one else was injured in the wreck and no charges have been filed.
