John David Bloom, 26, 261 Hale Street, was charged by investigators after the Moore County Department of Social Services contacted the Sheriff's Office with a statutory rape report. The victim in the case is a 14 year old child. Sheriff Lane Carter reports the incident occurred in the Southern Pines area of Moore County.
Bloom faces charges of statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child, sexual battery and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. He is in the Moore County Jail on a $100,000 unsecured bond.
Bloom's first court appearance is set for December 1.
