Investigators said Marshawn Thomas, 32, raped a woman on November 8, but the victim did not report the rape until December.
She told officers she moved to Indiana and was afraid to return to North Carolina because of Thomas.
Thomas was charged Thursday and placed in the Cumberland County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Police said Thomas and the woman knew each other.
