Woman assaulted in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE

It happened around 7 a.m. at the Sherwin Williams store at 454 N. McPherson Church Road. According to a police report, the victim was trying to open the store when the two men ran towards her wearing black masks.

The woman went inside and tried to lock the door behind her, but the men forced their way inside and chased her towards the back of the building.

They used Zip Ties to restrain her and put tape over her mouth and eyes. At least one of the men fondled her.

"One of the suspects was able to take control of her and began using some plastic Zip Tie restraints as well as duct tape that was covered over her eyes and mouth at the time," explained Sgt. Todd Joyce with the Fayetteville Police Department. "She did report that while one of the suspects stayed there with her, he did fondle her."

The report didn't say what was taken from the business. Another store worker called police. Police are reviewing surveillance camera information to try and identify the men.

The victim did not require medical attention.

News of the attack is unnerving to other business workers in the area.

"We're very vulnerable. Business and people are very vulnerable to what's going on today," offered a woman who works at a salon just a few doors away.

Police say it helps to always be aware of your surroundings and call them if you see anything suspicious.

Any person(s) with information are asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 483-TIPS.
