Sheriff: Teen made up kidnapping to skip school

GOLDSBORO

Mychayla Sariah Allen, of 103 Woodcroft Drive, Goldsboro, allegedly told investigators with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office the kidnapping happened while she was at a Hardee's restaurant in Pikeville.

The teen said she was there at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to purchase breakfast when a Latino man walked up to her vehicle and pointed a gun at her as he climbed into the passenger seat. Allen said the man ordered her to drive around for several hours before he made her drop him off in Duplin County.

She said the man slapped her at one point during the drive.

But Wayne County Detective Carl Lancaster said he and Chief P. Tucker of the Pikeville Police Department interviewed Allen and found several discrepancies in her story. They said she later admitted to making up the kidnapping because officials at Charles B. Aycock High School had contacted her mother to say she was not in school that day.

Allen said she needed a story to cover herself for cutting classes.
