Deputies had been searching for 24-year old Michael Anthony Lee of 419 Van Story Street since Saturday.
Lee, whose mug shot shows he has multiple tattoos on his face, including a dollar sign on the tip of his nose, has a long history of arrests according to North Carolina Department of Correction records.
He was released from state prison earlier this year after serving 9 months for receiving a stolen vehicle. Before that, he has convictions for assault, theft, and breaking and entering.
Deputies say he broke into the woman's home around 6 a.m. Saturday and began the assault. The woman managed to escape two hours later and called for help.
The woman was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center to be treated for her injuries.
