Authorities say a preliminary investigation has revealed that the teen was on a weekend pass from the Edgecombe Youth Development Center when the shooting happened.
The investigation has also led to charges being filed against three people for aiding the teen in the home invasion.
Authorities are looking for 20-year-old Jasmine Graham of Battleboro, 19-year-old Diamante Harrell of Raleigh, and 26-year-old Marcus Bell of Rocky Mount. All three face first-degree burglary charges.

Currently, no charges have been filed against the homeowner.
