One person killed in house fire

JOHNSTON COUNTY

It happened on David Road in the Corinth Holders community, which is south of Wendell.

Dispatchers tell ABC11 Eyewitness News a man, who lives in the home, was flown to the Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill with burns over 80 to 90 percent of his body.

He later died.

According to a fire official on the scene, the resident was asleep in the living room when the fire began.

"The victim was asleep and got out on his own," said Chris Perry, Johnston County fire marshal. "He was transported by ambulance to UNC Hospitals. He's got second to third-degree burns, that's the initial estimate."

Firefighters do not know what started the fire.
