UNC student charged in campus break-in

CHAPEL HILL

Garrett Lee Haywood, 22, of Chapel Hill was arrested on charges of breaking-and-entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Police say last weekend someone broke into the student judicial system office, which is located in the Student and Academic Services Building North. The office houses the Honor Court and "sensitive" confidential records for 31 students were taken. University student affairs officials continue to contact all of these students to inform them about the theft.

Haywood appeared before the Orange County Magistrate and his bond was set at $2,500.

The University's Department of Public Safety is continuing its investigation.
