Gov. Beverly Perdue says her second trade mission to China and Japan while in office is about expanding business sectors in the state with great growth potential. Perdue's office released Friday more details of her trip next month with Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco and other government officials.

The governor will arrive in China on Oct. 17 and meet with business leaders there. Perdue's office said the trip will focus on energy, aerospace, pharmaceutical and other business sectors. She'll also visit two universities that have partnerships with North Carolina schools.

Perdue also plans to participate in National Governors Association meetings in China before reaching Tokyo on Oct. 24. She'll return home the next day. Commerce Department officials will remain in Asia longer.

Perdue took a similar trip in 2009.
