2 face charges after 4-year-old boy shot himself

FAYETTEVILLE

Police say 26-year-old Quinisha Edwards and 25-year-old Vincent Massey are charged with felony child abuse, failure to store a firearm to protect a child, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Both suspects turned themselves in. It was unclear if they had attorneys.

Authorities say the boy shot himself Aug. 26 but did not receive medical care until Oct. 5, when he was taken to a hospital because of difficulty walking. Doctors found a bullet lodged in his hip.

Massey also faces a charge of possessing a firearm as a felon.
