Chapel Hill police found Drew Christopher Frasure after responding to his residence at Ashley Forest Drive.
Officers said Frasure apparently died from a gunshot wound.
Police said the incident happened after midnight and does not appear to be a random act.
The investigation is ongoing, and police said further information will be given as the investigation progresses.
