It happened just before 1 p.m. when Durham police say two men started firing shots at a third man.
The gunfire happened near the Healthy Start Academy, which is located in the 800 block of West Chapel Hill Street. The school was put on lock down as police searched for the gunmen. However, they took off into the woods and were never found.
ABC11 has learned that cameras at the school captured some of the action.
