A pair of unrelated accidents in Raleigh on New Year's Day left two pedestrians dead.

Around 7:15 p.m. Sunday, a truck hit Melissa Johnson, as she was crossing South Saunders Street near Maywood Drive.

Detectives were looking for a dark-colored, mid-sized pick-up truck which they said should have front-end damage. It was last seen traveling southbound on South Saunders Street.
