Fedora names football staff

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.

Fedora came to UNC from Southern Miss, where he finished the 2011 season with an 11-2 record and a Conference USA championship.

Six of his new assistants served under him at Southern Miss. They include defensive coordinator Dan Disch, defensive assistant and special teams coordinator David Duggan, defensive line coach Deke Adams, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Blake Anderson, tight ends coach Walt Bell and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic.

Also named were Gunter Brewer, who coached five years at Carolina from 2000-2004. Vic Koenning will serve as Carolina’s associate head coach for defense. He recently served as the interim head coach at Illinois.

Fedora also said he will retain strength and conditioning coach Tom Myslinski, who recently completed his first year in Chapel Hill.

Fedora said he plans to hire a running backs coach soon.
