Raleigh to restore historic carousel

RALEIGH

The city will spend more than $200,000 to bring the ride back to "brand-new working condition."

The three-abreast carousel is believed to date back to the early 1920s. It was moved to Chavis Park in 1937 after it was used for years as a travelling attraction.

The restoration work is expected to be finished later this year.
