Officers were called to the 1700 block of Glendale Avenue near Clark Street just before 6 a.m.
Investigators say 51-year-old Willis Jones was driving a 1989 Ford Tempo when he ran off the road and hit a tree, flipping the car on its side.
Jones was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
