The ambulance was headed to an accident on Highway 222 near Kenly when it collided with a pickup truck on Highway 301, just north of Micro. The scene of the accident was at the entrance to a Johnston County solid waste container site.
Two paramedics and one person in the pickup truck were transported to the hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Another ambulance was dispatched to the original crash on Highway 222.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
