Teacher accused of giving booze to teens

JACKSONVILLE, N.C.

Fifty-two-year-old Diane Marie Mennig was arrested by agents with North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement.

She's accused of giving malt beverages to teens aged 15 to 18 at her home on Running Road, Jacksonville.

The alleged incidents happened in November and December of 2011.

ALE agents said underage drinking in Mennig's home included about 11 high school students.

"We take the providing of alcoholic beverages to underage persons very seriously especially by those entrusted with the care and education of children," said Bill Berryhill, special agent in charge of the District III Wilmington ALE office, in a news release.
