The area is between Apex and Holly Springs.
A Wake County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said the call came in around 5 a.m. Officers found 23-year-old Dinomite Dwight Gooch wounded.
Deputies surrounded a nearby home and then sent in a SWAT team to check it out. Nobody was found inside.
Authorities have now arrested 24-year-old Christopher Calvin Rogers, of Apex, and 23-year-old Terrel Jamal Bankhead, of Holly Springs.
Both men are charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery, and first-degree burglary.
