Speed limits could increase in NC

Right now, the maximum speed limit on certain interstates is 70 miles per hour, but the DOT could get to increase it to 75 miles per hour.

Would a higher speed limit make the highways more dangerous? Studies show the major cause of crashes on highways is not speed. It is drivers traveling at different speeds.

However, because cars are going faster, crashes can be more severe.
