Right now, federal investigators they have only identified two letters they believe contain ricin. The one sent to President Obama and another sent to Sen. Roger Wicker, of Mississippi.
Currently, there is no heightened alert at any post offices in North Carolina.
The same is true for the federal courthouses including the one in Raleigh where Sen. Kay Hagan has her local office.
Sen. Hagan released this statement Wednesday:
"The regular precautions for mail screening are in place for my Washington office as well as all of my North Carolina offices. I will continue to follow the situation and am confident in the Capitol Police who are engaged in an investigation."
A spokesperson for the regional postmaster says they've been on alert since 9/11, but that has not been elevated because there is no identifiable threat to North Carolina at this point.
