There are also concerns about unleashed dogs interacting with children.
The Greenways and Urban Tree Committee of the Parks, Recreation and Greenway Advisory Board will hear from the public at its meeting on Wednesday, May 22 at 6 p.m. in Room 303 of the Avery C. Upchurch Government Complex at 222 W. Hargett Street.
In a news release, the city said pet owners have been seen letting their animals run free in playgrounds and on athletic fields because they are fenced.
City code already requires pet owners to remove and dispose of pet waste. And, it prohibits unleashed dogs on public property with the exception of designated dog parks.
