Troopers said 48-year-old Terry Glenn Lee, of Mt. Olive was driving the tractor on Baker Chapel Church Road with his granddaughter Kelsey Renee Davison around 9:15 p.m.
They were struck from behind by a truck and ejected from the tractor.
Lee died instantly.
Davison was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.
Officials have not said if the driver of the truck will be charged.
