UNC-Chapel Hill holds emergency drill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.

Actors portrayed gunmen, hostages and victims to simulate the university's response to a campus emergency.

"We've seen campuses elsewhere that have been targeted, certainly we don't live in a vacuum. We learn from that," explained Randy Young with UNC Public Safety.

UNC has a plan in place, and the drill was a chance for outside agencies to work with the school's plan.

"We've got a great relationship and mutual aid agreements with many of these agencies, but really a drill like really enables us to understand how to work better, where we need improvement, how can we improve and where things are working," said Young.
