Joseph Michael Ford, 18, of Clayton, is charged with taking indecent liberties with a 9 year-old female.
The Johnston County Sheriff's Office said the incident was first reported to authorities on March 13 and that the Department of Social Services has been assisting with the investigation.
Because the victim in the case is a juvenile, no additional details about the alleged incident were released.
Ford is being held in the Johnston County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
