Fayetteville crash investigator charged

FAYETTEVILLE

Police chief Harold Medlock made the announcement at a news conference Monday afternoon.

Medlock said Nina Megan Joyce, 33, had worked for the department since 2007. She resigned at noon.

Joyce is the wife of Fayetteville Police Department Information Officer Todd Joyce.

Police said the investigation began when they got a tip from a pharmacist. The drugs involved allegedly included large amounts of several drugs including hydrocondone and weight loss medications.

Joyce was charged with: one count of attempt to obtain control substance by misrepresentation/withholding information; three counts of obtain control substance prescription by misrepresentation/withholding information; two counts of trafficking, opium or heroin; and one count of simple possession schedule IV controlled substances.

At last report, Joyce was being held on a $65,000 unsecure bond.
