Cyclist struck by tree back to biking

RALEIGH

In June, 57-year-old David Lawrence was riding about a block from his home when an oak tree snapped during a wind storm. He was pinned underneath.

Lawrence suffered a collapsed lung and numerous broken bones including an arm, leg, ribs and vertebrate.

After several surgeries and about nine weeks of physical therapy, Lawrence is now back on his bike.

He attributes his recovery to daily biking, a healthy spiritual life, and a healthy diet.
