Police seek unidentified assault victim, suspect

RALEIGH

The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. Aug. 20 in a convenience store in the 5200 block of New Bern Avenue.

The victim entered the store first, and the suspect came in moments later.

Once inside the store, the suspect began to assault the victim by hitting and kicking her. He then forced her into a restroom where it's believed the assault continued.

The victim is described as a white female with a medium build who stands about 5 feet 4 inches tall. She had blonde hair and was described as possibly being in her 30s. When she entered the store, she was wearing the dark pants or jeans.

The suspect is a black male about 6 feet tall who appears he may be in his 20s. He was wearing a red "TapouT" shirt, dark-colored pants, and white sneakers.

When the suspect came out of the restroom, police said he appeared to be wearing the white shirt the victim had worn into the store. He left the scene and was last seen walking west on New Bern Avenue.

Despite injuries to her head, the victim left a short time later. She departed in a dark-colored sedan and went east on New Bern.

Neither the victim nor the suspect was located by responding officers.

Police believe s that the victim and the suspect were acquainted because they arrived together in the same vehicle the victim later drove away from the store.
