I-85 reopens after trucks, car collide

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C.

The crash, which happened around 1:36 p.m., blocked all lanes of traffic near Hillsborough for more than two hours.

Troopers say a tractor trailer was travelling south on I-85 in the far right lane when a U-Haul that was changing lanes from left to right cut it off. The truck hit its breaks to avoid the collision causing it to jackknife.

A second tractor trailer, in an effort to avoid striking the first truck, attempted to move to the left striking a box truck and a passenger car and pinning the car against the barrier.

The U-Haul left the scene and did not appear to be damaged.

The drivers of both semis and the car were injured. They taken to UNC Chapel Hill with non-life threatening injuries

The driver of the box truck was treated at the scene.

Troopers say no charges will be filed. They do not think they will be able to find the U-Haul driver because they weren't able to determine the size or tag number of the truck.
