Another attack reported on American Tobacco Trail

DURHAM, N.C.

The man was on the trail near South and S. Roxboro Streets around 12:30 p.m. Officers said the man was beaten with a tree limb. It is unclear how many people attacked the man.

This is not the first attack on the popular trail.

"You have people out there with ill intentions," said trailgoer Mike Glenn.

Trailgoers said they saw more police officers near the trail Saturday, but some folks feel safer having a partner by their side.

"We definitely look forward to riding, but we know we need to ride in pairs," said trailgoer A.J. Jimerson.

"When you come out certain areas you have to kind of mentally prepare that something might happen," added Glenn.

The victim was taken to the hospital, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, officials said.

Police were unable to provide a description of the attacker.
