At Golden Gate Park, these parents share hugs and smiles. Unfortunately, what unites them is a terrible sense of loss. They are the parents of five young men who have gone missing in San Francisco, and they're coming together to try and raise awareness for missing person's cases that often get little attention.
"Grown men and women that are adults are just as important as anybody else," said Shawn Dickerson's mom, Trisha Brucker.
Trisha and her husband flew here from Colorado to be part of this event.
Their son Shawn went missing nearly two years ago. Jackson Miller in May of 2010. Cameron Remmer in October 2011. Crishtian Hughes went missing early this February. And Sean Sidi disappeared this May.
Their families say each has some type of psychological issue that may have prompted their disappearances.
"He has a mental disorder, he is an adult, and if he chooses to stay here on the streets and I find my son, I don't like that, but I'm okay with that. He is a grown man, I'm not trying to make him anything; I just want to know he's alive, that's all," said Shawn Dickerson's dad, Phillip Brucker.
This event at Golden Gate Park was put together in part by the family of Sean Sidi. Since he went missing in May, his family has been posting signs throughout San Francisco.
The Brucker's say their son Shawn may have last been spotted in the Haight Ashbury District. So they're hoping someone may recognize him.
"I want somebody to tell me they know where my son is," Phillip said. "It's breaking my heart. It's been two years, the worst two years of my life. I don't want to do it anymore."
If Shawn is spotted his dad hopes someone takes a picture or even gets some video to give to police.
