Man arrested with 7.5 pounds of meth in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C.

Carlos Eduardo Segura Olivares , 26, was stopped on I-40 near Aviation Parkway around 2 p.m. for an alleged traffic violation.

The deputy who stopped him was writing him up for also driving without a driver's license when Olivares allegedly got out of his car and ran. He was captured after a brief foot chase.

Asked why he ran, Olivares admitted he had drugs in his car.

Deputies searched the car and found bricks of meth with an approximate street value of about a half million dollars hidden behind the carpet lining of the trunk.

Olivares was booked into the Wake County jail under a $150,000 bond on drug trafficking and other charges.
