Businesses offer free drinks on National Coffee Day

Sunday is National Coffee Day, and some of your favorite places are participating.

Krispy Kreme is offering a free cup of Joe.

Dunkin' Donuts has several promotions to celebrate the day. You can get a free small coffee -- hot or iced -- when you redeem the offer on the Dunkin' Donuts mobile app. It's also discounting the price on its K-Cups and one-pound bags of coffee.

McDonald's offer starts Sunday and extends through the week, to Saturday, Oct. 5. The offer allows customers to get a free small "Premium Roast Coffee," or a medium for 25 cents, or a large for 50 cents, with a limit of one cup per person.

And Starbucks is giving out free samples of a new blend at participating locations.

Peet's Coffee & Tea will be giving out a free cup from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but you have to buy a bakery item or oatmeal and use this coupon.

The National Coffee Association says nearly 85 percent of American adults drink coffee.
