Missing police canine found in Durham

A police canine who escaped from a fenced in yard in Durham Monday afternoon has been found safe.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. the Chapel Hill Police Department dog, named Kearny, ran away from the Parkwood area.

Kearny is a 6-year-old Belgian Malinois.

Police say a resident in the Parkwood neighborhood saw Kearny and contacted authorities in Durham. He was then picked up by the Chapel Hill Police Department.
