Shaw University student allegedly tried to rob 2 homeless people

RALEIGH

Authorities tell ABC11 that Tyvon Beasley allegedly tried to steal two scarves from two homeless people on Fayetteville Street, when one of the victims flagged down a Raleigh police officer.

Police arrested Beasley at the scene. The 18-year-old freshman from Belvidere, North Carolina is currently in custody on attempted common law robbery charges.

Authorities have not said if Beasley was involved in another attack on Fayetteville Street last week. In that incident, a homeless woman and another person were punched by a group of young men.
