One charged in Durham shooting death

DURHAM

Officers on a bicycle patrol first heard the shots at Morning Glory Avenue and Belt Street around 3:45 p.m. They found 22-year-old Jevontez Deshawn Massey severely wounded. He was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.

About two and a half hours after the shooting, police using a search dog spotted a man hiding in a nearby wooded area.

After a chase, Christopher Alexander Hicks was arrested and charged with murder. He was in the Durham County Jail without bond.

Police have no word yet on a motive for the shooting.
