"The phone would ring like it normally would, and then we would pick up and answer it, and you wouldn't hear anything," Kevin Roberts said. "So it was just a big hassle to answer the phone and nobody be there."
Kevin says the ghost calls would happen in a row and they would get several each week. According to the phone bill, the calls were coming from Canada.
"And when we found out they were actually charging us for it, we decided we'd check into it," Kevin said.
Kevin's company was being charged 12 cents for each call as it came in on the business' toll free line.
"We called AT&T and they said that um, they could not block the call," Kevin said. "It was really not a lot about the money, it was more about the aggravation and the nuisance factor."
Not happy with the answer, he reached out to me. A rep with AT&T got in touch with Kevin and gave them the good news that they could block the country code that the unwanted calls were coming from.
"The calls have stopped. It's been very pleasant. We haven't had any annoying calls… and I appreciate that a lot. Thank you," Kevin said.
In addition to blocking the country code, AT&T also credited the business for some of the unwanted calls.
It's important to note that in this case, the unwanted calls were coming from Canada. When you block an entire country code, you block every potential call from Canada. For Kevin, it was okay because his business is local and doesn't do business with anyone in Canada.
