APEX, N.C. --
Officials say a leaking natural gas pipe forced the evacuation of Bright Horizons Daycare and an adjoining address on Shepherds Vineyard Drive in Apex near US Hwy. 64 Monday. The Apex Police Department said the 4.5 inch pipe was leaking underground. Gas was shut off to the line around 12:05 p.m. and permanent repairs were being made.
The roughly 90 children at Bright Horizons were moved to the Eva Perry Library. All other businesses on Shepard's Vineyard Way were temporarily closed.
