It happened just after 6:30 p.m. on Devil's Racetrack Road outside of Four Oaks.
Witnesses said rescuers had to use the jaws of life to cut the woman out of the wreckage, which took about 30 minutes.
The woman was rushed to WakeMed, but she didn't appear to have serious injuries.
The State Highway Patrol is investigating.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
