Chapel Hill youth camp director facing child porn charges

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.

Detectives said Bruce Howard Aycock was arrested after a two-month investigation that included a search of his home and work. The probe began after they got a tip from The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Aycock is charged with receiving child pornography and distribution of child pornography.

While the sheriff's office declined to name the facility, a search warrant obtained by ABC11 shows Aycock's home was on the campus of New Hope Camp and Conference Center at 1520 Camp Circle in Chapel Hill.

The warrant shows detectives seized computer and camera equipment - including six laptops and computers.

Detectives said Aycock is no longer employed at the camp. Prior to his arrest, he had been there for five years.

New Hope Camp issued a statement Thursday saying it suspended Aycock as soon as it learned of the accusations and he resigned soon after.

"There are no allegations that Mr. Aycock's activities involved New Hope Camp and Conference Center, to our knowledge, and we understand that all of Mr. Aycock's allegations revolve around his activities on the internet," it said.
