Two killed in Raleigh crash

RALEIGH

It happened shortly before 2 a.m. Monday on Capital Boulevard just before Peace Street.

Police say a 1997 Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on Capital Boulevard when the driver, 24-year-old Jose Luis Montero-Garcia, lost control of his vehicle, and struck a cement lane divider. They say Montero-Garcia then over corrected and struck a tree.

Montero-Garcia was transported to WakeMed for non-life threatening injuries.

Two passengers, 38-year-old Cesar Hernandez-Medrano and 27-year-old Jamie Gamino-Gaona, 27, both died as a result of injuries sustained.

There's no word yet on what caused the crash.
