First there was Bubba the ram that was on the run for months in Durham. Now, all eyes are on an emu that also made an escape in north Durham.

A Durham County family told ABC11 that Alice and Sydney are their pet emus. They say a stray dog got behind their fence and scared one of their birds.

"I got home and was a little suspicious and then I went to feed the horses and emus and noticed one of them was missing," said the emu's owner, Jurgen Henn.

Authorities received several calls about the escaped emu running around the Guess Road area.

The animal was captured, and is doing fine.
