A refrigerator install did not go as planned, as one homeowner says there were problems before the fridge got plugged in.
"They bent this door jam all the way down," said homeowner Adam Brock.
Adam says the damage happened to his front door when a crew from Rent-A-Center delivered a refrigerator to his Hoke County home.
"They didn't have a dolly with them, they didn't have anything," Adam said.
"They were up on the porch, dragging the fridge on the porch, like dragging it on its side, and they bent the fridge all up," he added.
Besides damaging the refrigerator and his front door, Adam says when they dragged it across his vinyl floor they caused even more damage.
"You see one of the rips right here, where they slid it," he said.
When they set up the fridge, Adam claims the crew split the water line on the unit so the dispenser did not work. Frustrated, Adam called Rent-A-Center.
"We got the store manager out here, he said he was going to find us a brand new fridge and he was going to give us the money we needed to fix the floor and to fix the door," Adam said.
However, more than a month later, no resolution only this denial letter where Rent-A-Center states they are not responsible for the damage.
"That's when he said well we're not going to give you the money for it. I mean he just flat out said we aren't giving you the money," Adam said.
Fed up, Adam got in touch with me and I reached out to the corporate office of Rent-A-Center.
"Within 12 hours of getting you guys involved, after them saying we're not giving you guys a penny, within 12 hours they were asking if we would settle with $510," Adam said.
That money will cover the damage to his floor and front door.
"Thank you so much for everything you did...if it wasn't for you I know they'd still be jerking us around right now," Adam said.
Besides getting the money, Adam says the contract with Rent-A-Center was cancelled and he brought a new fridge on his own.
A rep with Rent-A-Center did look into it right away, and as Adam said, he got it resolved within less than a day.
