Police: Man who solicited sex act from 13-year-old charged

RALEIGH

Thursday, police charged 69-year-old Gennaro Salvatore Anastasio, of Wake Forest, with one count of indecent liberties with a minor in connection with the incident involving the boy.

Police say the incident happened on Feb. 21 when the Anastasio approached the boy in the 900 block of Wake Towne Drive.

The boy said the man drove away after he declined the solicitation. However, he managed to capture a cell phone photo of the suspect.

After taking the image, the boy apparently went home and showed an adult, possibly a parent, who made a call to 911.

911 Caller: "Thirteen-year-old was walking down the street getting off the bus stop on his way back here and this man pulled up next to him and said something that was very explicit."

Neighbors told ABC11 that Anastasio was well known in the area.

They say Anastasio and his wife have lived in the Wake Forest town home community for nearly a decade and are well liked.
