They say Joshua Helm fell from the seventh floor of Moore Hall Sunday morning.
Helm was a freshman at the school, and a graduate of Northern High School in Durham.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating his death.
At last report, they did not suspect foul play. An autopsy is being performed.
