Body found on side of road at Fort Bragg

FORT BRAGG, N.C.

An eyewitness said the scene was two miles west of Wayside Road near an old landing strip.

Authorities released few other details; including what police think might have happened to the dead person. A medical examiner plans an autopsy on the body.

A Robeson County woman told ABC11 Monday she believes it is the body of her 18-year-old son Tayvon McMillan, who went missing Friday evening.

Sharonda McMillan said government criminal investigators contacted her Sunday night and said the body has tattoos that could match her son's.

McMillan said her son left her Saint Paul's home just after 7 p.m. on Friday and was last seen not too far away in Raeford. He called his girlfriend between 7:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., saying he would be by her home after he dropped another friend off. He never showed up.

It is unclear where McMillan's car is and his mother said she is worried about foul play because it was out of character for him to go missing. She said she does not believe he has any enemies.

"I need to know what happened to my son. This doesn't make sense," she said.

McMillan, she said, is a student at Fayetteville Tech, and has never been in trouble before.

The Army's criminal investigators have not released any new information, but McMillan's mother is left to wonder what happened to her son.
