4 hurt in Lake Wheeler Road crash in Wake County

WAKE COUNTY (WTVD) -- Four people were taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after a truck ran off the road and crashed into a tree, authorities said.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the single-vehicle accident happened just before 2 a.m. in the 6000 block of Lake Wheeler Road.

Troopers said the truck was travelling south on Lake Wheeler when it ran off the road to the right. The driver overcorrected, ran off the road to the left and slammed into a tree.

All four of the truck's occupants were taken to WakeMed. At least one person had serious injuries, troopers said.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved. No word yet on possible charges.
